COLUMBIA ENGINEERING ENTREPRENEURSHIP NIGHT
The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science and the Columbia Alumni Association present the ninth program in a series designed to showcase the vibrant Columbia entrepreneurship ecosystem. This program will feature Engineering Dean Mary C. Boyce in conversation with Mr. Maodong "Modern" Xu (P: EN`18), Founder and CEO of Galaxy Internet Holding Group, the parent company of Wowo Limited, EGLS, WeLink, and numerous other tech start-ups in China. In April 2015, Mr. Xu led Wowo Ltd. to an IPO on the NASDAQ exchange in New York City. Dean Boyce and Mr. Xu will talk about the experience of launching successful ventures in China today, along with some of the challenges of growing a global business in today's competitive landscape.

Following the formal program, we will introduce a select number of new ventures led by Columbia alumni and students, and audience participants can visit with these demo teams in an informal reception following the program.

Mr. Maodong Xu, Chairman of the Galaxy Internet Holding Group, a successful serial entrepreneur and investor in China's Internet industry. With the vision of using Internet to rejuvenate traditional industries using the "Clicks and Mortar" model, Mr. Xu has founded and invested in a well-diversified array of companies. These companies include Wowo Mall, EGLS, WeLink, NTalker, Shi-Le-Tao etc. Mr. Xu hopes to continue working with the young entrepreneurs to build a new generation of business eco-systems by leveraging the new technologies, philosophies and business models of the Internet era to revolutionize the traditional industries. Mr. Xu participated in the “Columbia Engineering Entrepreneurship Night” held in Beijing in June 2014.
